My Feelings, Exactly!

This column by Rod Dreher in today's Dallas Morning News sums up my feelings, exactly, about the upcoming election.

Is it ever OK to refuse to vote on principle?

Interesting article, Sis. However, as fed up as I am with all of it, I still feel the need to cast my vote.

I probably will, too. I just won't be voting for either primary candidate.

It will be, for me, a vote against the established Party System that, has, for some time failed us, in my estimation.

The state of our Country right now is, in large part, the result of serious miscalculation, mismanagement, lack of oversight or just plain incompetence of both Republicans and Democrats.

Feels like nobody's been minding the store for a looooooooong time!

Dreher sums it up so beautifully. I have steadfastly voted in each presidential year (although I wrote in three times) ... and sadly, I mostly voted against someone instead of for someone.

It felt with all the election shenanigans in 2000 that the 2 parties we knew back then would morph... and it didn't happen (although both are different today than they were then). I don't know that this election will result in a 3rd choice in the future, based on that.

For once, I will vote for someone I believe in, who is on the ballot. That is different for me. In the meantime, I'm trying to clear my head of all things political and focus on other things. (It's about time.. :) )

How true, how true, Quid. I'm just ready for it to be over so the country can get on with the business (hopefully) of setting things right!

Quite frankly, I wouldn't want to be in the shoes of the next President.

He will inherit one Hell of a mess!

Great points but I'm going to hold my nose and vote for McCain. He has totally blown it in the past few weeks and is apparently getting some really bad advice. He has proven to be a worse campaigner than George H.W. Bush when Clinton ran against him in
'92. Of course he has had tons of help from the media who are IN LOVE with Obama.

But it's out out my hands. It's a formality but I'm turning it over to a higher power (a formality because He's already in control). That's what is getting me through this.

The media love Obama AND McCain with equal fawning blindness to their flaws. Even after McCain made his ugly embrace of personal destruction, the press kept looking for reasons to argue that this couldn't be "the real John McCain." Sure it is!

And, well, I suppose I don't need to explain the media's affection for Barack Obama here.
