There are certain necessary chores that are less than desirable, especially when done on a daily basis. When there are four furkids in your pack scooping poop is a necessary nasty. However, if embarked upon with the right mindset, this chore can be elevated to a creative endeavor. The result of one such creative endeavor is the unlikely poem below. It also proves that creative energy can be found in the most unexpected places.
Scooping poop
once or twice a day
is a bit like hunting
Easter eggs.
After awhile
you know which dog
laid which egg,
learn which
grassy nest is prime
for a find.
You also learn which
canine culprit snagged
the unexpected prize--
some tasty morsel left
by messy kids, or the
sneaky snag from an uncovered
waste basket.
A less than desirable chore
becomes a quiet time
to muse upon
the less profound,
to turn, perhaps, a
phrase about
the curious comparison
of poop and Easter eggs.

Ahahahhha!!!! This is great!!!
I can SO RELATE! Only around here it's never a quiet time and has been even less so since the bups were put in the run. They all (except Betty) love to be outside with me while I'm scooping. Esther plays ball (or stares at the bups) and the other two either chase each other or harass the outside dogs up and down the fenceline.
I scoop after four in the backyard and now that the bups are eating puppy chow, I'm also hosing down the run at least once a day. Fortunately, I don't have to clean up after the other two (three??)
Hilarious, Pammie, but a cool, meditative poem. Ray does the 'shoveling' around here. Cody, at 95 pounds, well, you get the picture. We have woods across the street and live in a low traffic neighborhood, so Ray's almost got him trained to go poop across the road. We just consider it fertilizing. LOL! Blessings!
HAHAHAHHA!!!!
One dog, big poop, lots of rain or baking sun, big back area with a hill leading to a gully. Dog likes to go there, so that he's hidden from view when he's doing his thing. Very modest dog.
Read between the lines. No scooping. Curtsy.
Wish you were here.

Hey Pam! Bret does that chore here! He calls himself a "shitologist" and swears he knows which of our 3 laid each one. I enjoyed the poem.
