Anticipation....

Three days and counting until a copy of Breaking Dawn arrives on my doorstep!! Can't wait! This is the fourth in Stephenie Meyer's Twilight Series , a totally addicting combination of romance and excitement in a world populated by humans, vampires and werewolves.

Beautifully written for, primarily, a teen and young adult audience, the characters are so fully developed and engaging that readers of any age are drawn in and haunted by the rich story that spans three, soon to be, four books. A movie was bound to follow; it hits the theaters in time for holiday viewing.

Incidentally, I just finished Meyer's first adult novel The Host , a science fiction romance and thriller that, once again, sucks the reader in with haunting and well-developed characters.

I love books by authors that can draw characters so real, rich and believable ( human or non-human) that I care about them and care what happens to them. I have a love/hate relationship with books that flow into others of a series. I put one down and pick up the next one. Stephenie Meyers is a master at capturing the reader and drawing, no, sucking them from book to book.

My niece got me hooked on these books and I hooked my daughter. It's been several months since I finished the three books that precede Breaking Dawn.

I can't wait for Sat!!!!!!

I plan to read all four in September. My daughter will leave her copies here when she goes back to college.

Well, let me know when you start them. I doubt I'll hear from you until you get through all four! LOL!!

I don't want to think you've been kidnapped or anything! :)

Ok. So Kelly tells me I can read The Host and avoid the vampires. Right?

That's right. However, once you read THE HOST you might decide to give the TWILIGHT SERIES a try.

Warning: They suck you in (no pun intended) LOL!

Well.... our "release date delivery" from Amazon never showed. Even this morning it's STILL showing the only scan from somewhere in Ohio around 2:30 Saturday morning. Our local bookstore wasn't able to get any copies; the WalMart had a midnight display and sold out.

What a bummer!! My daughter had the weekend blocked out for reading. Now she'll have to fit it in to her work schedule this week, IF it arrives tomorrow!

My house is NOT a happy place to be today. *sigh* (and I'm feeling guilty because if I'd never placed the Amazon order she would have gone by WalMart before she went in to work at 6:00 a.m. yesterday and possibly gotten a copy)

Finished yet?

Hardly! You forget I'm herding a couple of high-maintenance kids all day long. I couldn't keep my eyes open long enough to read long last night after said kids were down for the count.

Hardly had a break today, so far. Perhaps tonight.

I've been grabbing a page or chapter when I can.

Now that all is said and done.... the book finally arrive Monday afternoon, she finished reading it the next day and Amazon gave us a $5 credit to ease the pain and suffering.

Life is back to normal (whatever that is!).

Yeah, I know how that goes. I'm inching my way through Thomas Pynchon's VINELAND with a couple of other books "on deck."
